Inconsistent Heat

One of the first signs that your water heater is failing is that your water temperature is inconsistent. Maybe it takes forever for the water in your shower to heat up, or it just feels lukewarm when you’ve cranked it up to the hottest setting. Maybe you suddenly get a shock of cold water in the middle of your shower. These inconsistencies mean that your water heater needs repairs — or worse, it’s getting old and needs a replacement.

Higher Bills

An inefficient water heater will cost you more than an efficient one — and that’s not just because of the repair costs. It will use up more energy to heat up your water. So, if you notice that you’re spending more on your heating bill, even though your water heater isn’t working very well, this is yet another sign that it’s failing.

Leaking

The bottom of your water heating is leaking. You’re finding small puddles around your basement floor by the water heater or seeing water droplets along the exterior. A leaky water heater is a big problem, and it needs to get fixed as soon as possible.

Why? If it continues to go unaddressed, you could have a big plumbing emergency on your hands. A rusted-out bottom could burst open and pour water all over your basement floor. Not only will you have to contend with an unusable water heater, but you’ll have to deal with all of that water damage, too.

Rusty Water

Your hot water is coming out discolored. It’s rusty and brown. This could mean that you have a significant amount of rust buildup inside your water heater and it’s affecting the water.

Sandy Water

Is your hot water coming out sandy or cloudy? This could mean you have a lot of sediment in your tank, and it’s getting into your water.

Loud Noises

You’re hearing some strange noises coming from your water heater. It’s rumbling or banging loudly whenever it’s in use. This is a common sign that you have too much sediment inside the tank.

What Can You Do?

When you notice any of these warning signs, you should call up a professional plumbing service to fix the problem. They may need to install a brand-new water heater for you. If your water heater is quite old, you may want to spring for a replacement to save yourself from more frustrating problems and repairs down the line.

How can you pay for it? You can use your emergency fund to cover these unexpected repairs and replacements. If you don’t have enough in your emergency fund, you can apply for a legit online loan to cover the repair costs. If you’re approved for the online loan, you can use the borrowed funds to resolve the emergency in a short amount of time. Then, you can dedicate your energy to tackling the billing cycle.

You should only use online loans for emergencies. They’re not meant for everyday expenses or home projects that you can put on hold.

Don’t ignore these warning signs that your water heater is giving you. Deal with them now!
