You want your heating and cooling equipment running smoothly year-round. When it’s hot outside, you want cool air blowing through every room, and during the winter months, you want to feel warm and toasty in your home. However, you may not pay too much attention to the equipment that gives you that much comfort and just resort to calling an HVAC repair service whenever a problem arises. Why not be proactive and service your heating and cooling equipment regularly?

If your equipment is new, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and have the unit serviced at least yearly to maintain the warranty. Otherwise, it is a good idea to have it serviced twice a year to keep the unit at peak performance and save on your energy bill.

Air Conditioner Maintenance Schedule

Don’t wait until an air conditioning problem appears. It will likely happen at a very inconvenient time and you may have to wait days before anyone can stop by to fix the issue. The ideal time to have an AC checkup is during the spring before the temperatures rise and again during the fall before the temperature drops. Once temperatures start to drop and the AC use is less intense, you want to know that the equipment has received a maintenance checkup and will be ready to kick back up the following year.

Don’t wait until temperatures are at their peak to discover that there is an issue, take preventive measures, and enjoy cool indoor temperatures all season long.

Heating System Maintenance Schedule

As with air conditioners, you don’t want to discover that the temperature has dropped significantly and you are unable to heat your home. Have your heater serviced before you need to turn it on, preferably during the fall when the weather would allow you to go without heat for a couple of days should your maintenance checkup reveal the need to conduct any repairs.

Being proactive in scheduling maintenance for your heater will ensure that your home will remain as comfortable as you like it all season long. This way you can also rest assured that the system will be operating at optimal efficiency. A second maintenance call should be scheduled at the beginning of spring when the coldest temperatures are behind you and you can forget about your heater until next winter.

Heat Pump Maintenance Schedule

If you have a heat pump in your home, you know they work differently than air conditioners or furnaces. Pumps provide you with both heating and cooling and they should also receive maintenance every six months to operate at full efficiency.

Is it worth it to have a preventative maintenance plan for your heater and air conditioner?

Your HVAC unit is important and you should treat it as such. Making sure that it operates at optimal levels will also mean you can lower your energy costs. HVAC Minneapolis recommends that you get the most efficient performance out of your unit by finding a maintenance plan that works with your budget and timetable. It is worth your time to find the perfect preventative maintenance plan for your heating and cooling equipment and get that worry off your mind.
