Old to New: How to Give Your Pre-Owned Office Furniture a Fresh Look

May 7, 2023

Not only will it allow you to bring your style and personality into your room, but it can also help you narrow down your furniture options further down the line.

If you have no idea yet what theme will work best for you and your outdoor space, you can always scour the internet for inspiration.

Check out architecture and home online magazines to give you an idea how the minimalist, brutalist, industrial, and other themes will look like on your patio.

You can also pick out great examples from Pinterest, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Once you’ve seen a design that you think will perfectly match your personality, make it your main inspiration.

Make sure to follow that theme throughout the space for cohesiveness. But don’t be afraid to add your personal touch and play around!

Revisit the colour wheel

A theme can also be inspired by your favourite colour. It’s much easier if it’s your favourite colour.

The difficult part, however, is the mixing and matching of the colours of your feature walls, furniture, and accessories.  Afterall, not everyone is gifted with the eye for colours and details.

So if you think you don’t have the experience yet with colours, you can always revisit the colour wheel to get your hues and shades right. Or look for references online.

Getting the colours right is particularly important because they can help bring character and establish a mood to your outdoor space.

Take darker colours and tones for example. These colours give off a sense of maturity and elegance to any space. So they’re perfect if you want to transform your patio into a lounge or bar area.

If you’re going for lighter shades, it’s a different story. Light colours such as white oak are best for outdoor spaces that will likely be used mostly for family gatherings. These colours can certainly bring a sense of warmth to any space.

Get your measurements right

After deciding on a theme and picking the right colour palettes for your patio, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

You can start by measuring your whole patio down to the last millimetre. From the entryways to the furthest edge, and every nook and cranny, you must know the measurements.

Doing this will help you when looking for designer outdoor furniture Sydney that is a snug fit for your space.

These measurements can also help you decide on the placement of each piece of furniture and how much allowance to give.

When looking for the perfect furniture size, also consider how many people will use the outdoor space often.

You don’t want to cramp up your space with just furniture pieces and accessories. You also want people to be able to move around, in and out, of your patio. This way, your family and your guests can hang out comfortably outside the house.

Shop for durable outdoor furniture

As much as possible, opt for furniture pieces and accessories that are made by trusted brands. The ones that have a great record of producing durable products.

Remember that you are setting up furniture outside your house where there’s less protection from the outside elements. Sunlight, wind, rain, and dust can easily damage your furniture if they’re not built tough.

Don’t be afraid to spend more money on pricier yet more durable items if you know they will last a lifetime. Trust us, buying durable items is a lot cheaper because you don’t have to buy new ones every now and then.
