Tidying up the area, removing dead leaves and branches

Tidying is a never-ending chore in the garden. Dead leaves clutter garden beds and branches make it difficult to walk on paths. Once the important areas in your garden are tidy it will be much easier to see what might still be needed.

De-weeding, cutting lawn, and trimming edges

Now is a good time to tackle weeds, since many have reached a certain height by now. Cutting the lawn and trimming edges will also help keep weeds away which will save you more work later on.

Pruning trees and shaping hedges

Pruning trees and shaping hedges

When pruning trees make sure to use the right tools in order to avoid injury and make the job easier. If you use a chainsaw for cutting tree branches make sure to wear the correct safety equipment such as thick gloves and safety goggles. A hard hat can also make cutting large branches safer. Unfortunately, many people injure themselves every year while pruning trees and even cutting tall hedges. If you’ve not been treated properly for an injury that you sustained in the garden, the pain can persist for a long time or even become chronic. Therefore, it’s very important to stay safe while carrying out this type of work. The right shears can also make trimming hedges a breeze. If you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, make sure to find suitable equipment.

Creating new garden beds

In order to create the perfect edge for a new garden bed, use a garden hose or a piece of string to mark the edges. Are you looking for garden care services from Oklahoma arborists. You could also spray paint the lines with paint that is suitable for grass and will eventually wash out. Using a measuring tape can produce more accurate results. It’s best to take your time when creating a new bed and to give yourself room to add to it later on.

While gardening can be a lot of work, taking care of yourself and using the right equipment can make it highly enjoyable.
