It is a pleasure to relax in the garden with our friends and family and enjoy an outdoor bar on warm summer evenings. If you create your bar outside, you will entertain your guests for hours. It is an excellent idea for your backyard and pubs and restaurants.
You can construct your structure with wood or, as a more accessible alternative, use a shed made of wood as the base structure. Look for the best shed builders Atlanta for your garden to maximise the summer evenings with drinks.
Follow our easy steps to build the outdoor bar of your dreams from a shed.
Before You Start Building an Outdoor Bar
Before you build the bar, you ensure that you have the space ready for when you create your bar. We suggest the Urban-Sheds provide you with the best shed.
Take away any garden furniture or other debris, clean up any fallen leaves, and make sure that the surface is level. If you must move or lift heavy objects, seek a family member’s help.
You’ll need a good amount of equipment to ensure that the bar in your backyard is securely constructed. Sometimes, you may need to buy restaurant equipment to create a platform for inviting your friends or neighbours.
We recommend your bar to rest on and the style of shed that you can use for the bar.

BUILDING YOUR OUTDOOR BAR
BUILDING THE PLATFORM
STEP 1: MEASURE THE AREA
You must ensure enough space to build your shed, including an additional 2 meters between the bar and the shed. This can be transformed into an area for decking that you can put chairs on.
STEP 2 – SHORT YOUR TIMBER TO SIZE
Cut two pieces of wood to measure the width and six parts for length. You’ll require four sizes extra to make internal joists. Set them up before joining them to ensure that everything is in the proper dimension.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE BASE
Attach the frame to the outside with screws and an electric drill. Then, you can place your inner joists into the frame and make sure they are spaced equally using a tape measurement. After you’re happy, you are, but these lengths in the frame.
BUILDING THE SHED
STEP 1 – LAY DOWN THE FLOOR
Lay in your shed the flooring on top of the platform. Make sure it’s level with the level of your spirit. If you’re satisfied, fix it to the wall.
STEP 2 – PULL THE WALLS UP
Install your walls and lock them to the ground. You may require the help of family members to accomplish this task safely.
STEP 3: ATTACHING THE ROOF SUPPORT BAR TO THE ROOF.
Measure the middle of your back and front panels to ensure that the bar supporting your roof will be in the centre. Install this in the correct position.
STEP 4: ADDING THE ROOF PANELS
It is now time to repair your roof panels to seal the shed from water. After they’re secure, you can put on the roofing felt using Tacks to hold it in position.
STEP 5: ATTACH FASCIA BOARDS AND TRIMS
You’ll be able to attach any trims that came with the shed, attach the fascia boards to the front, and cover the felt. The holes should be pre-drilled to stop them from being split.
BUILDING THE DECKING
STEP 1: CHECK YOUR DECKING BOARDS
It is now time to create the decking on the bar’s front. Make sure that the decking boards fit between your building and the edge of your platform. Safely cut them with a chop saw.
STEP 2: SECURE THE BOARDS TO DECKING
Then, layout the decking boards, ensure they are in the correct position and use a level to ensure they are in a level position. Then, you can put them in place with screws that are 50mm in diameter.
STEP 3: ADD A POSTING TO THE CORNERS
Install wooden posts at the corners of your handrail. Once they’re set, secure them in position using screws measuring 100mm.
STEP 4 – ADOPT THE RAILINGS
Cut the railings down to the correct length and then fix them to the wall. Make sure they are secured.
STEP 5: INSERT SOME SPINDLES
Then, cut the spindles to the proper length and secure them into their place, evenly dispersing them. We suggest blocking them 2 inches apart.
BUILDING THE BAR
STEP 1: ADD SEVERAL POSTS THAT SUBSCRIBE TO THE BAR
Cut four pieces of lumber at the same height as the window. Install two posts to the interior of the wall facing you. We recommend one-half metres (50cm) large. Use a measuring tape to determine the distance, then mark the floor with a pencil.
STEP 2: CREATE THE TOP OF THE BAR
Make the upper part of the bar using plywood into the shape you want. Should you want, the bar should rest on the top of the support posts, with an overhang in the front. After you’re satisfied with your position, you can secure it into the desired place using a hammer and nails.
STEP 3 – OVER THE SIDE EXPOSED
To ensure that the items you keep under the bar remain hidden, it is possible to cover the bar’s exposed sides with plywood. Take measurements of the posts’ height and the length of the bar, and nail them to the bar’s side.
There you go! A bar outside in your backyard is ideal for entertaining guests or celebrating with your loved ones.
ADDED EXTRAS
PUT UP SHELVES ON THE BACK WALL
You can set up shelves on your back wall to store your liquor. Be sure that they’re set with a spirit level, and put the brackets below for more support.
PLACE ARTIFICIAL GRASS
The artificial grass laid on the decking in the front of your bar can provide colour, but it’s perfect for cleaning off spills. Use a mild soap using a sponge all-in-one synthetic grass cleaner and wash it clean.
FAIRY LIGHTS
Set up the fairy lights around your bar to create an intimate atmosphere. You can connect an extension cable from your home to the bar so that you can connect fairy lights and mini-fridges.
Final Words: Turning Backward Sheds
Some homeowners can convert the backyard storage sheds into bars, while others require professional help. Making a shed an outdoor bar requires a structured plan with a budget and timeline to complete. Be aware that drinking at home is less expensive than a pint at a bar, and your friends are welcome to join you.
