Loose Louvers
The louvers or the slats can be tilted up down helping you adjust the light coming in. however, with frequent use; louvers can become loose and slide down when they’re tilted. Good news, you can fix it yourself with a screwdriver. The tension screws at both ends of each louver, tighten them up and they’re up and running.
Crooked Louvers
Misaligned or crooked louvers are an issue especially when you’ve got pets and kids. The pins that hold the slat in place and prevent misalignment might have fallen. If you don’t find them, no panicking, you can get them easily at nearby home improvement store. Get them and push them back into place until the louver is secured.
Broken Frames or Louvers
Any sign of small break is an indication that your louver needs replacement. Though you can fix a small break with glue, but it won’t look good as new. If you notice a break, call and consult your plantation shutter manufacturer. They will come, inspect and do the job to perfection.
If the frame is broken, nothing can be done except replacement although it’s rare unless you have installed cheap quality plantation shutters. The one reason the frames can break can be caused by immense pressure on the shutter. However, as said broken frames is rare in plantation shutters.
