Secret One: Cleaning and decluttering

Cleaning doesn’t just mean vacuuming and dusting. Getting creative–cleaning both inside and outside your home will help it look better on paper (or computer screen) than it does right now. Decluttering is one of my favorite pastimes–it feels so good to see all the things laying around finally put away in their rightful place.

Secret Two: Updating the interior design of your home

The inside of any given house is so important to how quickly and for what price it sells, but if you’re on a budget, it might not be possible to do a complete overhaul. However, with time and effort, updating decor can still make a big difference. Here are some ideas:

One simple way to update your interior design is by painting the walls a fresh coat of whatever color you want, or adding new pictures and decor! If you’re feeling really ambitious, consider updating all those ugly tile floors with fancy hardwood flooring; that’ll be an expensive but beautiful upgrade for sure! A less expensive but still effective update is adding new curtains or blinds.

Whatever you do, make sure you take your time and pick the best possible updates for your budget!

Secret Three: Add plants to brighten up a room

This one might seem like an odd suggestion at first glance, but it totally works! Plants help liven any space up–just look around your home. If you don’t have any plants, go to the store and buy some! Plants are especially good for gloomy rooms where it can be hard to get a lot of natural light.

Secret Four: Makeover the backyard

A great way to make your house feel more spacious is by updating areas like the backyard. I’m not just talking about a new coat of paint on the fence and ground–I mean actually taking time to design something beautiful in your backyard that will make it seem bigger than what you’re used to.

Secret Five: Paint, always painting

Paint is one thing I never skimp out on! It can really change up the entire look of any room in the house. If you’re on a budget, try painting only one wall or picking a neutral color for all your walls so that it’s cheaper to get started.

Secret Six: Consider building an extension

Extensions are such great ways to add value to your home without costing much at all, but if you’re only looking to make a minor improvement, building an extension might not be your best bet. Talk with local contractors and get quotes for the work you want done–extensions can cost as little as $25 per square foot or more than that!

Summary:

If you want to maximize your home’s value on a budget, it will take time and TLC to do so. But don’t worry–you can still make great improvements that will make a big difference in the long run!
