Dealing with humidity is not hard. There are many things you could do, and we’ve talked about them below. Read ahead.
Reduce House Plants
House plants are a double-edged sword. Yes, they would make a space homely. However, they contribute a lot to humidity as well. As they photosynthesize, water droplets would be released from their leaves. The more plants there are in a home, the more moisture would be in the air. Some of them are known to release a lot of water too.
If you can’t give up house plants, the only solution would be to go for options that are smaller and don’t contribute much to humidity.
Wet Clothes
Just like moisture would evaporate from plant leaves, they could evaporate from any wet clothes you have around the house too. If you don’t have a dryer, a large yard, or live in an apartment, you might be drying clothes inside your home. Not only would this contribute to the moisture problem, but odors would also be released from the laundry.
Climate
Unfortunately, youmay live in an area that’s very humid. This could be due to a large water body that’s nearby, and high temperatures. A dehumidifier would be your best friend. It’s a machine that’s as large as a portable AC. It would suck up the humid air and release dry air instead.
Dehumidifiers can be a bit pricey, so what do you do? Purchase options that are second-hand. A smaller one wouldn’t be that expensive.
Carpets
We’re not fans of wall-to-wall carpets. For one, they would hide the beauty of the floor that is underneath, and can cause humidity problems. The carpets would trap anything that is in the air – this includes odors and water. As water evaporates from their surface, moisture would be released.
Just like carpets can trap moisture, this is true for furniture too. You’ll know if this is the case for any wooden items, as there would be a mildew stench.
Windows
Windows and doors are exposed to the elements. Whenever it rains, they would get soaked. They may have been made from low quality wood, so the chances of them trapping water would be high.
You may have a mold problem. If you’re wondering how to prevent mold, reducing how humid a space is would help. Mold especially grows on windows.

Ventilation
Make sure there is proper ventilation on your property. Air would be allowed to circulate. Wet air won’t linger. If you have an HVAC system, it would help with the circulation.
There are quite a few ways you can reduce how humid a home would be. One of the best is by purchasing a dehumidifier. It would work to dry the space as much as possible.
