When we move into a new home, we usually want it to look nice on the outside for the neighbors. We don’t always have to strain ourselves, but we want to make a good first impression nevertheless. We’d really like the outside of our house to look presentable. This includes the way we take care of our lawn, the things we have out on our front porch, the signs we hang on our front door, and of course, the way we present our garage. Whether this means we’re simply keeping it clean or decorating and designing, we at least want it to look welcoming and friendly.
Also, we sometimes really want to decorate but aren’t sure exactly what we want to do. Sure, we can stand there and brainstorm until we have an epiphany, even if it takes forever. Or maybe we could swallow our pride and seek assistance or advice. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help or ideas. In fact, there are plenty of ways to go about it. So, without further ado, here are three creative ways to design or decorate our residential garage.
1. Assistance From Friends Or A Residential Design Company
If we aren’t sure what would be fitting for our new garage, we can always seek help from professionals. This could mean your local hardware store or a company that specializes in building and designing residential sheds, like Fair Dinkum Sheds. Fair Dinkum builds and designs sheds and garages for our residential homes. They would be of excellent help in regards to making our home look as presentable as possible!
Of course, while hardware stores and residential building companies are professionals and know what they are doing most of the time, there is a chance they might not have exactly what we want, or maybe we’re just not feeling anything they have to offer at the moment. In this case, as mentioned before, we can ask our friends for help, especially if we know a particular friend who has good taste in design, art, and décor! Our friends can help us brainstorm and search for the materials appropriate for what we want to do.
2. Paintjob, Art, or Family Graffiti
Sometimes our kids are little visual artists and want a chance to shine their skill upon their new neighborhood. Or maybe we just want to have a little bit of fun after the stress of moving all of our heavy belongings from one house to another! Also, we could be dying to relieve a bit of stress. Either way, this would be an excellent opportunity to go get a few different colors of paint, whether buckets or cans of spray paint, so we can start decorating the door of the garage!
We don’t have to decorate the door though. We can just do the inside of the garage if we want to save the artistic beauty for when our friends and family come to visit. The art can be anything from images of nature, or a painting of the family, even abstract art, or just a bunch of colors thrown together! We can even just hang paintings we bought at a museum, or pictures that have been drawn for us if we don’t feel like doing the art ourselves.
3. Workshop or Hobby Style
Whether we park vehicles in our garage or not, we generally use it for one thing or another, whether that means storage or something else entirely. Some people use their garage as a workspace. This being said, another way to decorate our garage is to set it up as a comfortable environment for our work. for example, if there’s a writer in the house, they can use the space for their paper, pens, computer, and whatever other materials they use to write with. They could set up a table however they please to help them with inspiration, even decorate the walls with bookshelves filled with books by authors who inspired them.
This brings us to another idea for decoration. We could make our garage into a hobby space! Decorate the walls with anything from shelves to pictures. Fill the shelves with good books. Set up a corner with speakers, a turntable, and our favorite music. Fill boxes and drawers with arts and crafts supplies or knitting and sewing material. Or we could make a space for all the cameras and equipment associated with that film we’re recording, or all the instruments for our band we like to jam with every Friday night!
There are so many ways we can design our residential garage! We can try any of the things mentioned above, mix and match ideas, or use our own imaginations to do something else entirely. There are really no limits to what we can do with our garage when we set our mind to it. We can alter, replace, decorate, and arrange in any way we please, so we can make our new home feel comfortable for ourselves and our neighbors.
It’s important to create a friendly environment for our home, and our garage is just as much a part of our home as the backyard, the attic, or the kitchen. So whether you use it for storage, hobbies, or anything else, make sure your garage is a comfortable space for whatever you have in mind. Also, don’t forget to visit your local hardware store for inspiration!
