Considering a fence a good idea?

There are many aspects to look after if you are considering a fence. For example- if you need a privacy fence or a standard regular fence, or would it be harmful to nature? Well, privacy fences cut the land in the lots creating problems for bugs, insects and other wildlife living there. There is a thumb rule for this situation which states that they should be at least two inches off the ground. This will allow the critters to move freely from one property to another.

On the other hand, a regular fence works as a barrier or a property line dividing two different properties. There is also an option of a natural fence created by planting trees and plants suitable for creating a fence.

Well, for larger yards, it’s better to grow greenery to create a natural privacy fence with no environmental issues, either for you or the creatures. Consider choosing the best fence color that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape, ensuring a seamless blend with the greenery and enhancing the overall aesthetics of your outdoor space.

What should be the length of your fence?

The usual tall length for a fence should be at most six feet. However, it’s not a compulsion or something like a building code. If you still want to consider fences over six feet, try adding a lattice measured 12 to 18 inches, as it gives the effect of enclosed space without making it look shrunken.

You can load the lattice with creepers for a more viewable fence. Or you should go for a natural privacy hedge. It would go up to twelve feet without making it look shrunken or weird. It would also increase the beauty of the fence and yard.

Wooden fences look way better when it’sit’s a DIY project. Here are some DIY ideas to make your yard a private, cozy, relaxing space.

Wood Fence with flower pots

Wood Fence with flower pots

Installing a simple wooden fence seems traditional and boring. Still, there are too many ways to make a pre-installed simple fence look spectacular by adding a few elements, such as flower pots and wooden blocks, to create a messy look.

The look in the picture is relatively easy to achieve. You need a rough idea of how you would like the final look. Collect different coloured and shaped small flower pots and place them in a linear group after placing multiple groups. Now start adding different-shaped wooden blocks in the space left after placing the pots. And in the end, your beautiful DIY fence is ready.

Reed wooden fence

There is nothing new in wooden reed fences besides your creativity of systematically putting different-sized wooden lumber to have a final look. After installing it, either keep it the way it is or add some ornaments to make it look majestic. In the reference picture, two different-sized blocks are used. You can use more than two different sizes if you have a rough idea of what you are looking for.

Horizontal Raw Wooden Fence

Horizontal Raw Wooden Fence

It might look like a raw wooden fence, but it isn’t random. These blocks are designed the way they are. Cut them randomly and then sand off the rough edges to make them soft and avoid getting scratched while touching them.

However, in the picture, a wooden screen is installed to make it a privacy fence, but that’s not mandatory for you. Add the wooden screen if you feel exposed, or use randomly shaped wooden lumber just for the sake of the fence.

Vertical Raw Wooden Fence

Vertical Raw Wooden Fence

Just like the previous wooden fence idea, cut the wooden lumber randomly, sand it off and place them vertically after installing the frame for the fence. And in the end, garnish it with ornaments or plants. It depends on your taste, though.

Simple Vertical Fence

Simple Vertical Fence

It’s a simple, symmetrical wooden fence, a good option for minimalistic people. Install it and support its beauty with some plants. This type of fence looks better with a small cozy yard where there is enough space for a table and few chairs.

Traditional Wooden fence

Traditional Wooden fence

It’s a type of fence we might get to see in the farmhouses. Installing it doesn’t require a lot of money or effort. Actually speaking, it’s the cheapest you can get. Besides being a cheaper wooden fence, it gives off the vibe of an abandoned, age-old house where no one lives. It sounds creepy, right?

But it does look beautiful as it has that natural touch. However, it will look better with urban-themed houses, but it’sit’s the best match for rural, natural-themed houses.

You also don’t need anyone else to install it. You can do it on your own, pick up some wooden logs either shape them in a specific shape or use them in their raw form, create a frame as shown in the picture and then pick up long twigs and brushwood to fill it up.

Fence Using Bamboo Sticks

Fence Using Bamboo Sticks

Using bamboo sticks for a fence seems odd, but it does look good in the end. However, it might be hard for you to install it on your own as there is no frame. Instead, there are wires folded and tangled to create a sturdy fence without a frame.

Basket Weave Fence

Basket Weave Fence

It is also made up of bamboo sticks. The only difference is the sticks are not used in their raw form; they have been shaped for ease of use. You can also shape them by cutting them off or just buying them like this from the market. However, weaving the fence is not for you until and unless you go surfing the internet and find various videos on how to do it. Get it ready, made for ease.

Get some random-length wooden logs in a square shape, and then after installing a frame to support it, install the wooden logs. Then decorate it with lights and plants to make it look elite. This type of fence idea would look good on every type of house.

Wooden fence with natural fence (hedge)

Hedges work as natural fences, but if you are not satisfied with the hedges, you should consider installing a wooden fence in front of it to have safety and privacy. If you want the same look, then try leaving a few blocks empty so the plants can grow out of it, making it look unique.

Pergola wooden fence

If you want a longer fence, you should go for something like this and place the creepers on the lattice to have a natural curtain.
